Course Overview

Industrial Fire Safety is a training course for people working in industrial environments where fire hazards may be present. The course covers fire prevention, basic fire behaviour, fire classifications, extinguisher selection and use, and early-stage fire response procedures.

This in-person course combines classroom theory, an exam, and a practical component using either live fire or simulated fire. Participants learn fire classification, extinguisher types, extinguishing agents, rescue and escape planning, Fire Watch duties, and the proper sequence for extinguishing a fire.

The course supports industrial fire safety programs and provides participants with practical knowledge for early-stage fire response.

Understand applicable OH&S requirements for extinguishers and emergency response

Recognize when to fight a fire and when to evacuate immediately
Understand escalation protocols and communication with emergency services

To receive certification, participants must: Attend and participate in all course components Successfully complete the exam Successfully complete the practical component

Participants receive a certificate of completion. Certificate validity: 3 years

Full attendance is required for certification. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for standing and practical activities. Some worksites may require periodic refresher training. Check your employer’s policy. Government-issued photo identification may be required at sign-in. Participants must be adequately prepared to participate in the language of instruction for required course elements.
