Course Overview

Skid Steer and Wheel Loader Combination training is designed for people who need operator training on both compact equipment and articulated wheel loaders. The program combines safety fundamentals with a practical evaluation for each machine, supporting safe material handling, attachment use, and awareness of stability and visibility limits.

The course addresses the different operating environments of compact skid steers and full-sized wheel loaders, including articulation point hazards, bucket cycle techniques, and traffic interaction on busy sites.

What You Will Learn

Topics Covered

Identify hazards and controls for both machine types, including traffic management and ground condition risks
Complete pre-start inspections and recognize unsafe machine conditions for both machines
Operate the skid steer safely with attachments, applying controlled manoeuvring and pinch point awareness
Operate the wheel loader safely, including bucket control, common load cycles, and visibility management
Apply safe loading practices, spotter communication, and exclusion zones around the articulation point
Manage stockpiles, edge hazards, and ground conditions to reduce tip-over and rollover risk
Apply correct parking, shutdown, and securing procedures for both machines

Completion Requirements

To receive certification, participants must: Attend and participate in all course components Successfully demonstrate safe operation on both machines during the practical evaluation Complete the knowledge check as directed by the instructor

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion that is valid for 3 years.

Important Notes

Full attendance is required for certification. Participants must be physically capable of operating both machines and participating in the practical evaluation. Government-issued photo identification may be required at sign-in.
