Course Overview

Skid Steer and Telehandler Combination training supports operators who need to use both machines on the same site or across different tasks. The program covers shared safety fundamentals and includes a practical evaluation on each piece of equipment to support consistent safe operation.

The course addresses the contrasting hazards of compact skid steer work in tight spaces and telehandler lifting with telescopic boom extension, including the stability and reach principles that affect each machine differently.

What You Will Learn

Topics Covered

Apply hazard assessment and safe work planning for both machine types
Complete pre-use inspections for skid steers and telehandlers and identify defects requiring removal from service
Operate each machine safely, including travel, manoeuvring, and load handling within its design limits
Use attachments safely on the skid steer, applying correct attachment changeover procedures
Read and apply load charts on the telehandler, with attention to boom angle, boom extension, and load centre
Use spotter communication and exclusion zones during lifts, placements, and congested operations
Recognize the different stability profiles of compact equipment and telescopic equipment
Apply correct parking, shutdown, and securing procedures for both machines

Completion Requirements

To receive certification, participants must: Attend and participate in all course components Successfully demonstrate safe operation on both machines during the practical evaluation Complete the knowledge check as directed by the instructor

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion that is valid for 3 years.

Important Notes

Full attendance is required for certification. Participants must be physically capable of operating both machines and participating in the practical evaluation. Government-issued photo identification may be required at sign-in.
