Course Overview

Oilfield Driver Awareness is an Energy Safety Canada course that helps workers recognize and manage driving risks common in oilfield and industrial environments, including rural roads, lease roads, variable weather, and worksite traffic.

This instructor-led course covers practical decision-making and defensive driving strategies that support safer travel between sites and across high-risk routes. Participants learn how fatigue, distraction, road conditions, journey planning, and driver attitude can influence driving risk.

The course is designed to support employer driving programs by giving workers practical hazard recognition and response skills for field conditions.

Completion Requirements

To receive certification, participants must: Attend and participate in all course components Pass the required exam with a minimum score of 80%

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants receive an Energy Safety Canada Certificate of Completion that is valid for 3 years.

This course is for workers who:

Work in oilfield or industrial operations and drive as part of their job
Travel rural roads, lease roads, or routes with active worksite traffic
Are completing driver awareness training as part of employer onboarding or site requirements
Want to improve hazard recognition and defensive driving habits
Important Notes

Important Notes

Government-issued photo identification is required at sign-in. Participants must be adequately prepared to participate in the language of instruction for required course elements, including safety activities and the exam. Late arrivals may not be admitted, as full attendance is required for certification.
