PROFESSIONAL DRIVER IMPROVEMENT COURSE (PDIC)

Approved 3-demerit defensive driving training for collision prevention and hazard awareness. An optional in-car driver evaluation component is also available.

Course Overview

Defensive Driving (PDC) only is a full-day defensive driving course for people who operate vehicles for work or personal use. The course covers hazard awareness, provincial legislation, driver responsibilities, safety and emergency response procedures, and defensive driving behaviors.

This classroom-based course is designed to increase awareness of defensive driving practices, provide people with additional skills and knowledge to drive defensively, and encourage safer driving attitudes.

The course is approved as a 3-demerit reduction course.

Apply defensive driving principles
Recognize common driving hazards
Apply safe driving attitudes and behaviors

Completion Requirements

To receive certification, participants must: Attend and participate in all course components Pass the closed-book written exam

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion that is valid for 3 years.

Important Notes

Important Notes

Full attendance is required for certification. A valid driver’s license is required at sign-in. Comfortable clothing is recommended for full-day instructions. Government-issued photo identification is required at sign-in. Participants must be adequately prepared to participate in the language of instruction for required course elements.
